Lecture 6

In this lecture, we look at two contrasting misuses of sickle cell when in contact with officers of the state, such as police or prison officials. On the one hand sudden deaths of black men are misattributed to sickle cell trait. On the other hand those in custody with SCD are not cared for resulting in unnecessary deaths.
